Feel free and ask/tell me anything.
I'm a 23 yr old artist with a degree in Sequential Art. When I can, I post art. When I can't, I post someone else's. This is my: Inspiration. Sketchblog. Et Cetera.

Michael DeForgeIf you’re a comic junkie, and particularly an indie comic one, check out this guy’s stuff.  Some of his inspirational artists include none other than Hellen Jo, who I mentioned in my last post, along with Dan Zettwoch, Kazimir Strzepek, Mickey Zacchilli, Tim Hensley, the Wowee Zonk guys, and Walt Kelly’s Pogo. Delving into the surreal, Deforge’s work reminds me of Super Jail's color scheme and art style only slightly minimized.  Surprisingly, he's actually been working on Adventure Time with a slew of other artists.
If you’re interested in more of his inspirations and thoughts on his own work, check out this interview. OR if you want to read more of his comics, check whatthingsdo.com regularly for new comics by him.
Fact: I rarely laugh out loud when I read something.  I laughed loud enough to scare my cat off the couch.  Maybe I have a weird sense of humor…

Back to our regularly scheduled program…

Hellen Jo.

Influenced by Taiyo Matsumoto, Junji Ito, Love and Rockets (The Hernandez Brothers), and Eightball (Daniel Clowes), Hellen Jo resides in California.  Her artwork mainly includes girls, girls, and more girls bawling it out with bloody fists or just trying to find themselves.  Her most prevalent comic work, Jin and Jam No. 1 represents these elements at the highest fortitude.  She’s currently working on Regular Show with her boyfriend, Calvin Wong.

You can find her work in the above link or on her Flickr account, or check out this interview with vice.com.

Being of Korean American background, I have this underlying patriotism for my crossbred brethren.  Being an artist as well, I have this obsession with finding people who are making it and Korean American as well.  There’s something about Americanized Asians that you cannot find in any other human.   I love her sass, her humor, and her pure drive.
